Sea Basket

$225.00

This is a hand-formed bowl inspired by the baskets we would take to the beach when I was a kid. Asymmetric, with no apologies for being a little imperfect; rather, artistically functional.

This bowl is high-fired stoneware, approximately 7" tall and 13" in diameter. I like to use found objects, such as old gears, dried oranges, rollers and shells, to stamp the clay surface during construction. Here, I rolled the outside to create a basket texture and layered glazes to create the feel of sunlight moving through water.

I used red stoneware clay, leaving the bottom inside as bare clay with drainage holes. I like the heavy rim and bare bottom as it sets off the green body, reminding me of the sea, sea grass and picnics.

I make my pots to be different from each other. Each one has its own personality. I like similar repetition, but not crazy about duplicates. Hopefully, you will never find two of my pots that are the same.

With that said, a few pictures do not do a good job of helping you see the pots. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for additional views. I will be happy to send you additional shots to assist in your selection. Let me know if there is a specific shade or design that catches your eye.
