Dog Vase

$40.00

I wanted a vase that would survive my dog's big tail. So, I created these big bottom vases. These are hand-built pots, made to have their own individual character. All are high-fired stoneware, 5 1/2" high with a base of 3”, the neck narrows to an opening of 1+ inch. I used a light brown speckled stoneware. Particles in the clay burn through during the firing process creating specks in the glaze, giving each pot its own signature.

Designs vary from pot to pot. I like to use found objects, such as old gears, dried oranges, and walnut shells, to stamp the clay surface during construction. Please let me know if you would like detailed pictures of a specific pot before buying.

I want my pots to be colorful, fun, tactile and with a purpose. I hope you enjoy.

These vases work well on the windowsill, counter, niche, etc. They hold one stem to a small bouquet. They work great for events and installations, such as weddings, showers, receptions. Yellow: Several years ago we planted perennial sunflowers. Every year since, they have blessed our backyard corner with a forest of yellow blooms, growing up and around the birdhouse until it is hidden from view. Yellow is a fun color to capture with its subtle variations, so I often use multiple glazes, sometimes layering, sometimes pouring, or dipping.
