Feeling Orange
Orange wants to be seen; Marigolds, Daffodils, Day Lilies and Zinnias. This orange glazes plays well with the speckles in the clay.
This is a hand-formed vase made with a red orange glaze over brown stoneware. The vase is built with a slight conical slant to enhance stability. Particles in the clay burn through during the firing process creating specks in the glaze, giving each pot its own signature. I like using this vase on our kitchen table.
Designs vary from pot to pot. I like to use found objects, such as old gears, dried oranges, and walnut shells, to stamp the clay surface during construction.
