This bowl is slab-built; made from high-fired, red clay stoneware, finished with a heavy-flow, white, matt glaze, over bare sides, approximately 8" tall and 7" in diameter. It is oven and food safe. Like much of my work, it is not quite round and has its own personality.

Sometimes I turn the music on and just make something. The music gets going and I try to keep up with my hands and clay without getting too worried about what direction of the pot takes. I think I had Phil Collins and Rusted Root on, a lot of beat! I particularly like the pot’s rhythm. For me it eludes verbal and wants me to feel something.

I like to use found objects, such as old gears, rollers and handles from old tools to stamp the clay surface during construction. I often add images of eyes, faces, crosses, the sun, dogs and birds; calling on influences that range from native to tattoo art. I really try not to over-think a pot like this, but get zoned into the moment and just make it.

I make my pots to be different from each other. Each one has its own personality. I like similar repetition, but not crazy about duplicates. Hopefully, you will never find two of my pots that are the same.

With that said, a few pictures do not do a good job of helping you see the pots. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for additional views. I will be happy to send you additional shots to assist in your selection. Let me know if there is a specific shade or design that catches your eye.
