Vinca
There is a patch of vinca growing wild in the woods nearby. I like the seemingly endless flow of a vinca vine. I used it to wrap around a bare clay bowl, glazing the inside with a deep medium blue.
This is a hand-build pot. I like the slower hand-built process versus wheel thrown. I end up with a pot that is a little more like nature, not quite perfect.
This bowl is made from high-fired, stoneware. The bowl is 7 1/2” diameter and 5” high. Typically, stoneware is food and oven safe, however, I don’t think I would put this piece in the oven, and would most likely wash it by hand.
Several years ago I started to study tattoo art. I wanted to use this on my work and liked the concept of adding designs and shapes to tell stories and establish identity. So, I started tattooing my pots. The vincas on this pot are a continuation of the Tattooed Pot Series.
